Petrol price to increase by 36c

Motorists, who are already struggling with the high cost of fuel, will have to fork out an additional 36 cents a litre for fuel, as from next Wednesday, 2 September 2009.

The Department of Energy announced on Friday, 28 August, the retail price of Petrol 93 ULP and LRP and Petrol 95 ULP and LRP will increase by 36 cents a litre. The price of wholesale Diesel 0.05% Sulphur will go up by 35 cents a litre while that of Diesel 0.005 will increase by 36 cents.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin is to increase by 21 cents and the Single Maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 28 cents.

“During the period under review, the average international product prices of Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased,” said the department.

Last month the retail price of petrol came down by 21 cents.
