Pretoria retailers win the Revolution
Retailers operating at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria have dominated the Retail Revolution, a new annual awards competition covering some 2,000 shops in major retail complexes managed by Old Mutual Investment Group Property Investments (OMIGPI). Menlyn Park took nine of the categories, while Gateway Theatre of Shopping, Umhlanga, fared tops in its region with six awards, and the Cape's best scorer, Cavendish Centre, brought home five awards.

They competed in OMIGPI's inaugural Retail Revolution awards against retailers operating in 25 categories in centres across South Africa.
Annelize Simons, Gauteng regional manager of OMIGPI, says the Retail Revolution awards recognise outstanding performance across a broad spectrum: "They honour those retailers who have excelled in the last financial year through their exceptional trading densities, those who have shown a commitment to sustainability and the environment, those who have displayed service excellence, and also those with a flair for visual appeal and innovation."
The national awards were also contested by retailers from Bayside Shopping Centre, Tableview, Cape Town; Cavendish Square and Cavendish Connect, Cape Town; Cascades Shopping Centre, Pietermaritzburg; Gateway Theatre of Shopping, Umhlanga; Menlyn Retail Park, Pretoria; Riverside Mall, Nelspruit; The Zone @ Rosebank, Johannesburg; and Vincent Park Shopping Centre, East London.
Collectively, the centres attract more than 100 million shopper visits a year.
