Virtual visit of Gauteng now live

Earlier this week, the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) announced the launch of its new online portal for travel and tourism in the province. It offers locals and visitors alike the latest information on how to get to Gauteng, what to do upon arrival in the province, how to get around provincial regions and what to look out for during a trip to Gauteng, with information on money, geography, weather, history, transport and communication.

It has 100 top attractions write-ups, ranging from cultural and historic attractions to a world heritage site and national monuments with directions of how to get there, opening times, entry fees, contact details, nearby attractions and up-to-date content of what makes each hot spot unique. Another 100 attractions are set to go live in the New Year.

MICE, media use

Those involved in travel and tourism in the various regions are urged to visit the travel industry section of the website, where MICE venues and industry services rendered by the GTA are published.

For international and local media, the website offers fact sheets about the province (free to download) and hi-res image galleries of the province. Accredited partners simply need to login and register on the media page.

Social networking

The launch of the site offers integrated feeds to a new GTA presence on Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and Facebook. To view the site go to www.gauteng.net.
