CricketNext.com wins online world cup rights

Indian-based internet portal CricketNext.com has secured the online rights to the Cricket World Cup to be held in South Africa next month.

CricketNext won the World Cup contract from cricket's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC). In September last year the company succesfully hosted and managed the online service for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The website promises to give users ball-by-ball scorecards, previews and game analysis, exclusive photos, instant match reports and international columnists as well as interactive games and competitions.

"We have created exciting sponsorship and advertising options," says CricketNext director Pallavi Jha, "which include official match tickets, air fare and hotel stay, autographed bats, usage of data base, and premium and innovative on-line properties."

He adds that for the first time ever there will be large scale global webcasting of the event, including live streaming, video highlights, delayed relays, audio commentary and more.

CricketNext boasts approximately 85 million page views per month, and over 600,000 regular visitors.
