South African Internet portals show a strong local following, according to the statistics published on Oracle Online.
There are 1.5 million South Africans with Internet access at home, of which 60% are male. The average home user goes online for about 4.5 hours a month - low compared to the rest of the world due to high connection costs - and at leat four of the top ten most visited sites are South African.
Local banner click-through rate is twice that of America, at 0.65%.
