SA shines at World Press Awards

Halden Krog, Chief Photographer for Beeld, is one of five South African photographers to walk away with a global accolade from the World Press Photography Awards. Halden was awarded third place in the nature category for his compelling tsunami disaster visuals.

In total, 4 448 professional photographers from 122 different countries submitted over 84 000 photographs for consideration in the ten categories.

Finbarr O' Reilly of Canada walked away with 'Photo of the Year'. His poignant visual of a Nigerian mother holding her child's hand against her lips impressed judges the most.
