Fairlady editor resigns

Media24 has announced the resignation of Fairlady Editor Ann Donald. Donald has been with Fairlady since January 2002 and will leave at the end of 2005. In announcing her decision to management, Donald said: "After a long time of careful thought, it is with sadness that I have reached the decision to tender my resignation from Fairlady. Editing this title has been the highlight of my career, and I feel extremely privileged to have been given the opportunity to do so."

Fairlady has performed exceptionally well for the past few years, according to Media24 and the new ABC figures will show that circulation has stabilised satisfactorily. "I am confident that I will be handing the magazine over with a strong and stable base, and that the magazine will continue to perform exceptionally in a highly competitive market."

Donald's four years at Fairlady follow three years as Editor and then Publisher of Woman's Value/DIT. "I now feel that the time has come to consider the future. From a personal point of view, I have spent 21 years in the publishing industry, 11 of them on magazines, and nine of those as the editor of various titles. I would now like to explore the opportunities that exist to use my experience in different capacities, that allow for more flexible working hours and the chance to spend more time with my family," Donald said.

"It is with great sadness that we learnt of Ann's resignation, but we do respect her decision," said Women's Magazine Division Publisher MarĂ Lategan. "Over the past few years Ann has built a strong editorial team and under Ann's leadership published a title that won no less than 21 awards in the past 16 months. This is a remarkable achievement in a highly competitive environment. We would like to wish Ann all the best with her new plans."
