Bob Mabena strengthens Primedia's strategic advertising unit

Kuben Pillay, CEO of Primedia Limited's Advertising Division (ADCO), has appointed broadcasting stalwart and entrepreneur, Bob Mabena, as strategic advertising executive in the group's Strategic Advertising Unit. Mabena will join Trevor Ormerod, who heads up the unit.

The Strategic Advertising Unit's ability to provide more relevant and creative media solutions to clients has been an important factor in extracting synergies between the group's different media types, yielding incremental advertising-spend over the past two years, claims Primedia.

"Cross promoting the group's quality media assets creates an extremely attractive one-stop media solution to our clients in the Private Sector and we will now, with Bob's involvement, be providing the same level of service to our clients in the Public Sector, fast becoming one of the largest advertisers," states Pillay.

"We identified a growing need for a dedicated focus on our government and parastatal clients, providing communication solutions across our various media platforms. Bob Mabena's successes in the communications industry, presenting programmes, programming, and leadership skills developed as general manager of one of the larger stations and in his own media and marketing consultancy tailored him to interact with this important sector."

Comments Mabena: "My radio show focused on Black Economic Empowerment, Transformation, and how to market to both the private and public sectors. Instead of continuing to tutor listeners with valuable inputs and advice I re-engineered my career to use these skills productively. At the Strategic Advertising Unit I can leverage my knowledge and skills within an exciting media group that has firmly committed to Black empowerment, with the involvement of the Mineworkers Investment Company, MIC."
