SABC: we need more money... again

NEWSWATCH: We taxpayers apparently need to fork out another few hundred million for the SABC for migration to terrestrial TV, reports Business Day. Meanwhile the press ombudsman says the ANC has found a scapegoat in the form of the print media, reports Mail & Guardian, and you can blame the SABC if you haven't seen Johannesburg, reports Times Live.
SABC: we need more money... again

  • Business Day: SABC needs R600m for digital TV... Brilliant... Fail to meet the performance targets set by the Treasury, waste money, squander resources, but you can always turn to the SA taxpayer for more cash. Why can't we all live like that? By the way, have you ever heard of a government project coming on or under budget? Nope, nor have we - so don't die of surprise if the R600 million grows by a bit... and then some.
  • Mail & Guardian: Ombud: ANC finds 'scapegoat' in print media... Joe Thloloe reckons the ANC believes the print media is doing a 'horrible thing', and wants to bring it to heel. Of course, the obvious course of action would simply be to govern the country properly and punish, instead of defend wrongdoing, monumental waste and incompetence...then the print media would have nothing to report on. Ah, we can but dream...
  • Times Live: Blame SABC if you haven't heard of Johannesburg... Have You Heard From Johannesburg? If not, don't be surprised... simply blame it on the bunch of people who, according to Marianne Thamm, 'couldn't organise a sandpit in a desert'. Yes, you got it right in one - the SABC.
