Nominating Top Women in Business and Government

For the first time a publication will be launched, showcasing companies and government sectors in South Africa that empower women as part of their corporate strategy and transformation process, called Top Women in Business and Government.

"I believe within South African companies and government departments many divisions across the spectrum are headed up by dynamic women and it is from these strong female role models that others can learn. In the search for outstanding business women we invite companies to tell us about their top executive and non-executive women to be featured in our publication," says Ralf Fletcher, sales director at Top Companies Publishing. Due to be released on 9 August this year the 350-page Top Women in Business and Government publication will profile an estimated 2000 top business women.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is highlighting their gender equity drive through the Top Women in Business and Government publication with more leading companies to follow such as Umgeni water, KPMG, TELKOM, Johnnic Holdings, Vodacom, CALTEX, Petro SA, Transnet and Media 24. In support of the publication endorsements have been given by top executive business women Cheryl Gillwald, Department of Justice, Dr Danisa Baloyi of the Black Business Caucus and Lindiwe Hendricks of the DTI.

Listed and unlisted companies and all relevant government departments will be included if they qualify according to specific criteria. Top Companies Publishing will evaluate companies sending in nominations according to a questionnaire that determines the overall level of female involvement and empowerment in the company. The criteria includes areas such as; percentage of female staff, percentage of female directors and policies that empowers women within the company to name but a few.
