RIP Robin Parker
Parker was Bizcommunity's managing director for seven years, having spent his entire career in media, across both print and digital.
Parker started out as a reporter on Port Elizabeth’s Evening Post.
Andre Rademan, CEO and co-founder of Bizcommunity.com, comments:
Robin Parker took the reins as managing director at a critical period in Bizcommunity's success, during which time he worked closely with our founders and founding editors to expand the content offering to 18 industry sectors in Africa, and growing the team. His experience in the newsrooms of SA's print media and passion for Africa were an asset to the company.Rod Baker, editor at African Brand Link and former content director at Bizcommunity.com adds:A great fan of the breakaway team-building weekend, ensures Robin's legacy is filled with fond memories of fun times. We are grateful to the dedication he demonstrated during the company's formative years from 2007 to 2013.
Robin Parker’s passing will leave a big gap in the lives of many. He and I went back to the AfricaOnline days and subsequently he and I worked together a great deal. I worked with him on iAfrica, One2One, Bizcommunity and lastly African Brand Link and he was always an absolute pleasure to work with. His loyalty was legendary; even to those who treated him less than well. Among many of his attributes was a great sense of humour.Bizcommunity extends deepest sympathy to the family and close friends at this sad time. Most of all, he was a seriously intelligent man and turned at least two companies around. I am honoured to have known him and worked with him and will miss him. He was a very special person, and very special to many people.
UPDATE: Robin Parker's memorial will take place on Friday, 7 December from 5pm at the Hout Bay Yacht Club.
