Last call for 2007 Tabbie Awards entries
CLEVELAND, US: Deadline for the 2007 Tabbie Awards competition is Wednesday, 7 March 2007, so there is still time to get your entries in. The Tabbies is open to English language business-to-business publications around the world that are published at least quarterly.
This year’s competition features two all-new categories, Feature Design and Best B2B Website. TABPI is again partnering with the US’s American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), New Zealand’s Magazine Publishers Association (MPA), Australia’s Society of Editors NSW, and UK-based Minett Media.
Categories in the Tabbies’ editorial division include: Best Single Issue, Department, Editor’s Column, Feature Article, Focus/Profile Article, How-To Article or Series, News Coverage, Regular Column, Single News Article, Special Section, and Technical Article. Categories in the design division include: Feature Design, Front Cover, Digital Imagery; Front Cover, Illustration; Front Cover, Photograph; Front Cover, Special Issue; Opening Page or Spread; and Table of Contents. The all-new online division will recognize the most interactive, informative b2b websites.
Judging criteria
Judges are culled with the assistance of TABPI’s worldwide partnering organisations. Specific judging criteria varies by category. In general, editorial entries are rated on such items as headlines, decks, leads, reporting, tone, use of sources, organisation, and usefulness to the reader. Design entries are examined for imagery, placement, clarity, font choices, colors, screens, and appeal to readers, among other criteria. Online entries are judged on similar journalistic standards, but also include a focus on interactivity, navigation, links, timeliness, frequency of updates, and amount of unique content.
The 2007 Tabbies are also supported by companies that have an interest in working with B2B editors and publishers -- as well as supporting editorial and design excellence. Gold sponsors are Texterity Inc., RedRover Reprint & Content Management Services, and Proximity Marketing. Silver sponsors are Business Strategies Group Asia, Lane Press, and Magazine Manager.
The PDF Call for Entries (www.tabpi.org/2007.pdf) includes category descriptions, instructions, submission fees and an entry form. A Quark 4.0 version of the entry form is available at www.tabpi.org/2007.qxd.
Winners will be announced on or about 1 July 2007.
