It's still carnival time in SA

The party continues and, as the South Americans look good, Cape Town is offering a Portuguese style party for tonight's game between Brazil and Portugal, where two of the Makarapa chasers will be cheering from their hard-won seats and when the party is over at Soccer City, it still caries on at the FNB Stadium.

Come samba at Seapoint

In addition to the regular offering of live music and samba dancers, there will be a lamb on the spit and Espatada (skewered beef) on the grill tonight, Friday 25 June 2010 at the Seapoint Civic Centre (CASA) in honour of the most anticipated match of the series - Brazil vs. Portugal. CASA is operational seven days of the week for the duration of the tournament. Doors open at 1pm and the party continues well into the early hours of the morning.

"Thousands have streamed through the doors after the official launch less than two weeks ago. When the fans are at CASA, the atmosphere is electric. It is not only Brazilians making use of the excellent facilities; other football fans are more than welcome to join in the festivities," comments Calvyn Gilfellan, CEO of Cape Town Routes Unlimited (CTRU), destination marketing organisation for Cape Town and the Western Cape.

A unique feature is the 24-hour internet streaming from the venue to the rest of the world. This is the first time that a service like this has been available in Cape Town and the Western Cape and it allows Brazilians who could not make it to our beautiful destination to live vicariously through football enthusiasts partying up a storm at CASA. Makarapa chase gets to Durban

The eight BP Chase the Makarapa contestants are nearly halfway through their dash around the country for World Cup tickets. The contestants paid a visit to uShaka Marine World, where smooching a dolphin paid off for Justin and Ish as they won tickets to Friday's Portugal vs. Brazil game at Moses Mabidha Stadium.

They still have quite a way to go, as they wind their way through the Drakensberg, Transkei, to Grahamstown to experience the National Arts Festival and then Cape Town via Jeffrey's Bay before returning to Jozi via Kimberley for the World Cup Final. Follow them on www.supersport.co.za/makarapa.

FNB gets name back

Soccer City will return to its official name, the FNB Stadium, on the 18 July 2010. While there have been reports that Soccer City will be named the National Stadium after the tournament ends, FNB confirms that the relationship between FNB and the stadium will remain as such until at least 2014.
