Net#work's TV ads ranked 5th in world

Net#work BBDO has been ranked fifth in the 2005 Best Ads on TV global rankings for five of its award winning commercials. The closest SA contender was TBWA Hunt Lascaris, which was placed 23rd.

The five commercials that catapulted Net#work to fifth position are: Netstar (socks), Opel (Ode to a Car), Cell C (Clever), (Lassie/Alien/Casableepa) and Virgin Atlantic (Love Story).

Julian Watt and Mike Schalit took the first two places as top Creative Directors in South Africa with another Net#worker, Trevallyn Hall, first in the creative category.

Schalit, who has been invited to add his voice to the judging for 2006, says: "Well, we've been saying it for a while now. SA agencies need to keep staying unrealistic and ambitious so we can keep outpunching our weight out there.

"It's always exciting to be down yonder bottom of Africa and making our mark in a world class industry, although a bit hairy when you get lucky enough to be at the forefront. But I guess that's what continuously drives us - coming up with the craziest ideas on the planet. Yeeha."
