Ormerod to head up Avusa Media's ad revenue as GM

Trevor Ormerod, who re-joined Avusa in October 2011 as group commercial executive, has been made Avusa Media's new GM: Advertising Revenue, taking over strategic direction and leadership of the media group's advertising sales teams.

He inherits a strong sales force and healthy revenue figures from previous GM, Enver Groenewald, who managed the division for the last five years.

"We knew that Groenewald wanted to pursue commercial interests and, when looking for a new GM, Trevor was the obvious choice," comments Mike Robertson, MD of Avusa Media and acting CEO for the group. "He has considerable clout in the media and advertising world, has successfully run numerous businesses and has proven his value within the group."

Build upon sales strategy

Ormerod, who will also retain his responsibilities as group commercial executive, will have to increase advertising revenue and support, notably from advertisers who traditionally do not spend with the group, drive innovation within print advertising and build upon the sales strategy, which has seen revenues grow, even in a recessionary media environment.

Groenewald, who took over the division in 2007, has acquired the group's advertising agency, Ochre Advertising and Design, and will be leaving to head up this business.

"We didn't want to lose him and we're obviously pleased that he'll continue to do business with us in the future," comments Robertson. "Groenewald has been instrumental in building our sales divisions and increasing our market share over the last five years - we thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best in his new venture."
