Saatchi's retains Peugeot account

Saatchi & Saatchi Johannesburg has secured the Peugeot Motors South Africa account in a three-way strategic and creative pitch. Saatchi has handled the account since Peugeot re-entered the South African market in January 2001.

In a pitch, it is seldom that an incumbent agency is re-appointed, but, says Colin Ramparsadh, Managing Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Johannesburg: "Being up against such tough competition makes our re-appointment even more rewarding. Unlike many pitches, it was not the 'big idea' that won us the business, but rather our creative approach, use of ambient media to support international creative, and strategic thinking in building and sustaining the brand in the local market."

Commenting on Peugeot's decision to retain Saatchi & Saatchi as its advertising agency, Jean-Marie Rivière, General Marketing Manager, Peugeot Motors South Africa, says: "The quality of work, involvement and professionalism demonstrated by Saatchi during the pitch process was the deciding factor. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial future collaboration."
