Call to enter 2009 Midas Awards

NEW YORK: Entries are now open for the 2009 Midas Awards, which recognises excellence in financial services communications on a global scale. The Jupiter Drawing Room South Africa last year walked off with the Midas Grand Trophy for Best Direct Mail campaign for its client Absa Capital, and Velocity Films scooped a Midas Gold Ingot.

The Midas Awards honours advertising in banking, brokerage, insurance, mutual fund, and credit, in addition to, real estate, accounting and consulting. This financial award competition focuses on four distinct areas: Consumer and Business-to-Business Communications, as well as Corporate Communications, Craft and Technique and Best Use of Medium. Since 2001, it has provided a comprehensive view of advertising and corporate communications in the international financial community.

Last year's Midas Awards competition received entries from 24 countries, spanning five continents. Midas Gold Ingots also went to MUW Saatchi & Saatchi, Slovak Republic; McCann Erickson, US; and Ologie, US.

Warsop for 2009 jury

The Midas jury comprises award-winning international client and agency leaders from creative and marketing disciplines, in addition to respected experts in finance and communication. The 2009 Midas jury includes:

  • Graham Warsop, chief creative officer, The Jupiter Drawing Room Johannesburg, South Africa
  • Martin Behm, senior consultant/creative director, Hallvarsson & Halvarsson, Stockholm, Sweden
  • Eduard Bohler, creative director, WIEN NORD, Vienna, Austria
  • Simon Lee, creative director, Lavender*, Sydney Australia, and
  • Prasanna Hegde, creative director, BPG Group, Dubai, UAE.

Jury members participating from North America are:
