Creative Circle results for February 2008

The Creative Circle results for February 2008 are out and according to chairperson Phil Ireland, there was “some beautifully crafted work, with lots of rich thinking in the insights that support them”.

Adds Ireland, “I'd like to thank this month's jury for taking the time to help with the monthly exercise of taking the creative temperature of the industry. Which is looking pretty healthy right now... And the jury asked to make special mention of the fact that the radio category in particular was the source of much delight this month.

Comments from the chairperson

Film

“A worthy winner in the beautifully crafted spot for Alan Grey out of King James Cape Town. E tu mama tambien, as they say. Second place to Internetless from Ireland/Davenport and third to a Rib Tickler for Steers out of King James Jhb.”

Radio

“In first place a brilliant concept from The Jupiter Drawing Room Cape Town for the Design Indaba – recycling old radio ads by chopping them up and pasting them together like a ransom note cleverly highlights the Indaba's theme of sustainability in design. A strong category this month and second place was also really strong work out of Grey for Cuddlers. Third to Ogilvy for Car Magazine ‘Lesbians'”.

Outdoor

“Some beautifully crafted work from FoxP2 took the honours, and perhaps a little more attention to craft would have helped the other entries in this category. Some strong thinking, but let down in execution a little.”

Magazine

“Children wreaking mayhem in the wake of electronic toy failure for Energizer batteries out of DDB Jhb led the way this month. Ogilvy Cape Town following hard with ‘Undies' and Draft FCB with ‘Skeleton' for Ramrod.”

Newspaper

“A little light on entries this month, Grey taking the honours with Apartheid Museum and Lowe Bull Jhb second with ‘Black out'. No third place as no votes were cast for any of the other entries.”
