Clio awards online call for entries opens

NEW YORK: The 49th annual Clio Awards, the world's most recognised global awards competition honoring creative excellence in advertising and design, have announced the first group of industry leaders who will serve as Executive Jury Chairs to head its seven awards categories for 2008.

The appointments are as follows:

  • Content and Contact: Johnny Vulkan, partner, Anomaly, New York, USA.
  • Television/Cinema/Digital: Tony Granger, chief creative officer, Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, USA.
  • Print/Poster/Innovative/Integrated: Jeremy Craigen, executive creative director, DDB, UK.

    “These individuals collectively represent the power of the idea,” said Tony Gulisano, managing director, Clio Awards. “They are an excellent fit for the role because they're totally plugged in to the new dynamics of the marketplace, and proactively playing a part in moving the industry forward with their own work. Because of their fresh thinking and personal experience, they're challenging the expected and generating great creative across all media.”

    Jury chairmen for the remaining Clio categories – Interactive, Radio, Design and Technique – will be announced shortly.

    Call for entries

    In other Clio Awards news, the online entry system for the 2008 awards program is currently open at www.clioawards.com. Deadlines for entry submissions are as follows:
    January 15, 2008 All entries first appearing between January 1, 2007 - December 31, 2007 must reach Clio offices in New York no later than January 15, 2008.
    February 29, 2008 For entries originally appearing in the first quarter of 2008, the deadline is February 29, 2008.

    The awards will be announced and presented at the Clio Festival, May 14-17, 2008, in Miami's South Beach, Florida.
