Net#work BBDO for ICC cricket tournament

Steve Elworthy, the tournament director for the ICC World Twenty/20 South Africa 2007, last week announced the appointment of Net#work BBDO as the preferred advertising agency for the inaugural tournament which starts in South Africa in September 2007.

Commenting on the new appointment, Elworthy said, β€œThe process of choosing the agency was intensive. All the companies interviewed were of an extremely high calibre and presented very strong cases. We are confident that Net#work will pull out every stop to ensure that this world-class event captures the attention of the nation.”

Heads of Net#work BBDO Abdulla Miya and Julian Watt said winning the opportunity to create the advertising campaign for such a prestigious world event is one of the highlights in the agency's history. β€œIt is like being given a creative licence to pull a nation together in the name of cricket and that level of responsibility is really motivating.”

The two-week tournament runs from 11 – 24 September and will see 12 participating nations compete in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.
