Four tricks to stay creative

Often, creativity is the kickstart a business needs to get off the ground, or to stay ahead...

If you're an entrepreneur, it's likely you're already a fairly creative type. You're happy to solve problems, to possibly bring a solution or product to the table that doesn't already exist, and you're doing things differently.

Here are four ways to keep those creative juices flowing:

Involve everybody. If there's more than one person in your business, get a brainstorming session going and make sure everybody has their say. You might find that others' ideas are amazing. Even if that isn't the case, letting everybody air their ideas can often get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Make sure you have a clear purpose. Creativity still has to be somewhat organised, so your overall goal or aim needs to remain clear. Otherwise you may end up with a lot of jumbled, chaotic thoughts and ideas, but no solid way to plan or implement them.

Try and get out of the office occasionally and give yourself some time to see things in a different way, and to think about things in a less restricted and confined area. Sometimes just doing something new can make a big difference if things are feeling stale and uninspiring.

Carry a notebook and jot down any ideas you have. Sometimes your best idea can strike as you're in line at a supermarket, or during a meeting. If you can write them down and return to them later, they'll be more solidified in your mind.

These four tricks should help to keep your creative juices flowing, even during the dull times. If you can make a habit out of creativity, your business is already on the path to success!
