Junior Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Data Analysts, Software Engineers, and Product Owners to design and implement data solutions within an agile framework.
• Assist in shaping data architecture and technical designs using collaborative tools such as Jira.
• Develop, enhance, and automate data ingestion and ETL processes using low-code platforms such as KNIME.
• Integrate and manage data from multiple internal and external sources using SQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based technologies.
• Utilize Python and Java to build and optimize automation workflows and data-processing solutions.
• Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI and Salesforce.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability across business systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in data engineering.

Qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• A strong academic record is essential.
• Candidates who have consistently achieved high academic results and demonstrated excellence in quantitative or technical disciplines will be highly regarded.
• Strong academic background with a passion for data and technology.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Basic experience with Python and/or Java programming.
• Understanding of ETL concepts and data integration processes.
• Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies is advantageous.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure is beneficial.

The reference number for this position is NG61395 which is a permanent, Hybrid position based in the Johannesburg offering a cost to company of up to R360k CTC negotiable on experience and ability.
