Java System Design Specialist

Requirement

• 9+ years' professional software development experience
• Strong commercial Java development experience
• Strong experience with spring boot / spring framework
• Proven experience developing backend services and APIs
• Strong understanding of system design and software architecture
• Experience designing and developing scalable, highly available distributed systems
• Strong understanding of microservices and/or service-oriented architectures
• Experience with event-driven architecture, messaging and asynchronous processing
• Strong database design and data modelling experience
• Experience working with cloud-based environments and modern development practices
• Experience developing frontend applications using React, TypeScript and/or JavaScript
• Strong understanding of API design, application security and authentication
• Experience working within Agile engineering teams
• Comfortable working on complex technical problems with a high degree of autonomy

Data and infrastructure

• PostgreSQL / MySQL or similar relational databases
• Redis / caching
• NoSQL technologies advantageous
• Docker
• Kubernetes advantageous
• AWS / Azure / GCP
• CI/CD
• Monitoring, logging and observability

Reference number for this position is GZ61510 which is a permanent remote position offering a salary of R1.5m per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
