STADIO Higher Education is looking for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer for School of Information Technology

Purpose:
The Information Technology Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences in Information Technology disciplines, supporting student success, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in scholarly activities, and ensuring graduates are equipped with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to meet industry and academic standards.

Key responsibilities
Lecturing and assessment:

• Deliver engaging lectures and assess students in accordance with the accredited programmes and module requirements.
• Provide timely feedback on assignments, exams, and other assessments to facilitate student learning and growth.

Learning management system (LMS):

• Independently utilise the learning management system and collaborate with colleagues to design, develop, and deliver modules effectively.

Curriculum development

• Participate in the ongoing development of programmes and curriculum, incorporating current educational trends and best practices.

Internal moderation:

• Undertake assigned internal moderation responsibilities to ensure assessment validity and reliability.

Assessment invigilation:

• Conduct venue-based assessment invigilation as required by the registrar's office.

Academic support:

• Provide academic guidance and support to students, addressing their concerns and queries promptly.

Quality assurance:

• Complete all quality assurance requirements related to modules and programmes to ensure compliance with academic standards.

Research and community engagement:

• Engage in research activities and contribute to community projects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and positive societal impact.

Effective communication:

• Maintain open and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and management members.

Administrative efficiency:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining administrative efficiency.

Participation and collaboration:

• Participate in meetings, workshops, and relevant committees as requested by management.

Administrative functions:

• Fulfil administrative duties related to the position as directed by the relevant line manager.

Skills and competencies

• Strong knowledge of computer architecture, hardware components, and hardware/software interaction.
• Practical knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive and mobile-first design, Adobe Dreamweaver or equivalent web design tools, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, server-side development, web publishing and debugging.
• Sound knowledge of basic electronics, circuit analysis, electronic components, Boolean logic, logic gates, digital circuits, microcontrollers and fundamental computer hardware concepts.
• Strong competence in sets, functions, relations, counting techniques, logic, proof methods, recurrence relations, number theory, graphs, trees and their application within computing.
• Ability to teach both theoretical and practical computing concepts at NQF Levels 5–6, facilitate laboratory or applied activities, and develop, assess and moderate tests, assignments and practical projects aligned with the stated module outcomes
• Passion for teaching, learning, and developing the next generation of IT professionals.
• Strong technical expertise combined with an applied, industry-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse student groups.
• Commitment to research, continuous learning, and staying updated with IT trends.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within academic teams and with industry partners.
• Organised, innovative, and adaptable to a rapidly changing technological landscape

Qualifications and experience

• At least a master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• For senior lecturer, a PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Industry certifications (e.g. Cisco CCNA/CCNP, AWS, Microsoft Azure, CompTIA Security+, Data Science, Security+) are advantageous.
