South African R&B fans have something to look forward to: Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and performer Leon Bridges is heading to the country for two live shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town this November.

Bridges will kick off his South African visit at Marks Park in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 28 November, before performing at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in Cape Town on Monday, 30 November.

The Johannesburg show will feature BCUC and Wandile Mbambeni as support acts, while Msaki will join Bridges for the Cape Town performance.

Bridges is known for a sound that draws on classic R&B while incorporating contemporary influences, with songs such as River, Coming Home, Smooth Sailin, and Beyond among his best-known tracks.

What to expect

The South African performances come as Bridges prepares to release his fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime, on 25 September.

The album follows Leon, released in 2024, and sees Bridges continue to explore the R&B, soul and groove-driven sound that has defined his career.

For Bridges, the upcoming shows also mark a long-awaited first visit to South Africa as a live performer.

“I’ve wanted to play South Africa for a long time, and I’m really excited to finally make it there, especially with this album, for these two special shows,” says Bridges.
