Streaks ahead

Forget mirror flags and soccer balls, what else do you do if you want to show you're a proud support of South Africa to all 2010 FIFA World Cup visitors in Johannesburg? Perhaps a fresh coat of paint in the colours and design of the South African flag? This is exactly what Design Plus has done for its studio on Oxford Road, Illovo, and it's definitely a head turner!

TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Johannesburg's Trillion Dollar campaign for The Zimbabwean is continuing to make waves and history both abroad and locally, especially with its latest booty: last week's first-ever best-in-show ADC Black Cube. This week, when it comes to award shows, we'll be keeping an eye on the Clios in New York and Apex Awards here in Johannesburg to see what happens.

Meanwhile, Bizcommunity.com congratulates the five lucky winners of our A Million Miles from Normal giveaway with Penguin South Africa. Ailsa Pringle of CNN International, Shelly van Zyl of RamsayMedia, Shaun Clarke of Zoom Advertising, Nicky Topliss of Berge Farrel and Katherine Botes of Union Swiss will each be getting a copy of this debut novel by South African copywriter Paige Nick and I hope they enjoy the rom-com as much as I did.

Ke nako!
Simone Puterman (@SimoneBiz)

PS In this week's Ornico Ad Showcase, we feature TV ads for Nestlé Cremora, Halls, Benylin, Citroen DS3 and Vodacom, and radio ads for Fed Health, Nando's, Nescafé, TopTV and BMW X1.

Please send all marketing and media news to marketingnews@bizcommunity.com and opinion pieces to contributors@bizcommunity.com. Responses to this column welcomed in our online editor's column archive.

Where's all that World Cup clutter, then?
