New vehicle sales enjoyed the third consecutive month of growth this year with March sales up by 20.1% year on year and 10.9% ahead of February results.
More than 100 000 Corsa bakkies have been sold since the new generation Opel Corsa Utility was launched in 2004 making it South Africa's most popular and top selling ¾-ton bakkie.
Naamsa's New Vehicle Sales Statistics for February 2009 showed a passenger car market down 34% compared to February 2008. During February 2009, a total of 20,406 new passenger cars were sold in South Africa.
The year has started off on a slightly more encouraging note for new vehicle sales in South Africa, with passenger car sales up by 6% over December 2008.

The industry celebrated excellence in design, integrated media advertising & sponsorship (the old Raptor Awards) on Saturday night, 2 October, by awarding 34 Gold Loeries, 57 Silver Loeries, and 35 Bronze. VWV were in the spotlight, winning two Grand Prix in Corporate Film: Multi Screen and Theatre: Large Events; while King James walked away with one Grand Prix Loerie for Promotional Marketing: Consumer; and Frontiers Group Africa with another Grand Prix in the Loerie Sponsorship section.
