The current chief operating offer at Stellenbosh University, Professor Leopoldt van Huyssteen, has been appointed as the new head of academics for the Academy for Environmental Leadership SA (AEL).
Van Huyssteen, former alumni of the University of Stellenbosh, completed his PhD (Agric) studies, majoring in soil science and chemistry. He was previously employed at the Department of Agricultural Development where he held various positions as scientist and director.
Van Huyssteen takes over from Dave Pepler, who has decided to be available as lecturer of the Curriculum to AEL students. Van Huyssten will remain in his current role at the university until the end of 2017.
