DTP Operator

A well-established label manufacturing company in Durban is looking for an experienced DTP Operator to join its Prepress Department.

This is a technical prepress role suited to someone with experience preparing accurate, production-ready artwork for the label and packaging industry. The successful candidate will work on a variety of packaging applications for both digital UV inkjet and flexographic printing.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate, production-ready artwork for digital UV inkjet and flexographic printing.
• Typeset, layout and paginate artwork for:
• Self-adhesive labels
• Multi-page peel and read labels
• Booklet labels
• Shrink sleeves
• Flexible packaging
• Prepare digital files for flexographic plate production.
• Conduct artwork pre-flight checks, proofreading, revisions and quality assurance.
• Produce contract colour proofs and verify barcodes.
• Manage artwork approval workflows using Label Traxx Siteline (or similar workflow software).
• Liaise with customers and internal departments to ensure artwork is completed accurately and on schedule.

Minimum requirements:

• Previous experience in a DTP or prepress role.
• Excellent Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Experience within the label, packaging or commercial print industry is highly advantageous.
• A qualification in Graphic Design, DTP or Prepress will be advantageous
