Lebo M joins Hollywood project: The Woman King

Music producer, composer and songwriter Lebohang 'Lebo M' Morake has been confirmed as the composer and music producer of The Woman King, an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster.

The Woman King stars Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong'o and South African actress Thuso Mbedu.

The movie is based on true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, located in present-day Benin, one of the most powerful states in Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. The story follows Nanisca (Davis) and Nawi (Mbedu), two ambitious recruits, who fought enemies who violated their honour, enslaved their people, and threatened to destroy everything they hold dear.

It is the first time an African film producer and composer is involved in such a key production and composing role for a major Hollywood film in the 'Covid era'.
