Mxit offers Ebola app to West Africa

In an effort to combat the Ebola epidemic currently devastating communities in West African countries, BBC World Service and Mxit have teamed up to provide critical information to inhabitants of these regions via a newly launched Ebola Info app. The free app is available across 8,000 mobile devices, including feature phones, and is the first information service of its kind designed to be accessible to those who need it most. The BBC World Service's 30-second podcasts featuring updates and ways to avoid Ebola are also made available through the app in both English and French.
