Maize ends firmer on higher CBoT prices and softer rand

South African maize futures closed the Tuesday session higher due to firmer Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT) figures and a softer rand.

Wheat‚ however‚ ended lower due to a fall in CBoT prices and ample world wheat stock‚ a trader said.

The March 2015 contract gained R29 to R2‚028 a ton and the March 2015 yellow maize contract lifted R32 to R2‚064 per ton.

Wheat for delivery in March 2015 dipped R6 to R3‚949 a ton.
