DTP, Print & Repro part time courses

I studied IT but decided that I would like to focus on graphic design. (Currently studying Graphic and Advertising Design part time)(I have 3 years working experience) I am currently stuck in a job that doesn't allow me to grow and recently I haven't been doing any designing and more basic office work. I work for a Property developer and Travel Medical Insurance Company. I am responsable for the marketing material and the updating of the travel insurance website. I am also in charge of printing and any type of design that needs to be done.

I have been trying for almost 2 years to get into the magazine design industry or at least find a place that I can shadow on a part time basis just so that I can get my foot in the door and ultimately find a better job where I can learn more and be more handson what designing is concerned. Unfortunately every single place that I have phoned could not assist me. I am stuck! Does anyone know where one could do shadowing?

My current job barely covers my expenses, so I am unable to spend thousands on a 3 week course at a time (etc Vega School of Design courses). I know Conceptinteractive have customised courses available but they are also not very cheap.

Any pointers, advice, info will be greatly appreciated.
