Banning of Getz ad
The Getz ad featuring a young woman telling her date to forget dinner and a movie (because, it is implied, she wants to get on with having sex with him) has reportedly been banned by the ASA.
It's an awful ad, granted - naff and cheesy - and since when do male Getz drivers get babes offering to have sex with them on the strength of the car? But to ban it because it promotes premarital sex? (Hello? Was it 2005 when I last looked out my window or am I mistaken?)
Is the ASA slipping back into its bad old ways of banning every second ad that happens to offend the more sensitive members of society? I thought we were living in a democracy in which adherence to the bad old Calvinist ways as no longer explicitly required. Tut tut.
