Too much
There is too much focus on a specific township (Soweto) by some of the big brands (e.g Castle) in their ads and this I think alienates other people who do not see themselves targeted by such ads.
There is an emerging market of young people that resides in the flatlands of major cities (Pta,Jhb,Durbs etc). Most of these people come from rural areas and are now urbanised. They do not really see themselves as part of township culture. They do have a buying power because they initially came to the cities for studies.
I feel most of the ads campaign that seems to be addressing only the township people miss out on this market.
