FNB undermining community radio ad
There's an advert that is selling different choices of brands of the First National Bank advert that is running on Y-fm and Metro FM. The advert says:"community radio or y-fm / metro fm, ragga music or hip-hop?...."
The advert is deciminating community radio becasue it says:" community radio OR y-fm of metro fm" this kind of undermining is in two fold:
1. the advertising standards do not allow companies to undermine the competition.in this case, FNB says the 2 stations that are broadcasting this ad are better that community radio, which is wrong. community radio play a different and imperative role in community development
2. the brand holder (i.e. FNB) brands its self saying HOW CAN WE HELP YOU? FNB claims to serve your pooorest of them all and the most ordinary South Africans, but they still use their very same brands that are said to be helping the poor to undermine them
