Boring old Admin/ Creative and Fun Communication/ Branding

I need some input on this one from the people out there currently in the field. I have been working in the Admin field for about 8-9 yrs now. Have no post matric qualification. Im currently not sure do I stay in this field and build my career further because of the earning potential currently earn just under 9kpm, or do I follow my dream of having a career in a more creative field like branding/ design or communication.

I have gained some experience in the communication field but was employed as the Secretary so all everyone notices is the fact that my job title said that no matter what I learnt or contributed creatively.

Please advise is a career in the creative field lucrative? I've seen the prices of study courses and its flippin expensive (is it really worth it)?
