Corne & Twakkie - Indeed the most outrageous show
The saddest part, judging by viewerships and rate card rates, there seems to be an overwhelming support for this crap. Could you believe that thousands can laugh at themselves being portrayed as red-necks? let me list a few more: Blonde Ambisie, Gautengaleng, Orkney Snork Nie, the list goes on.
I am an Afrikaner, grew up in Pretoria and, heaven forbid, went to the NG Kerk for most of my young life, all the classical Afrikaner textbook elements. Are these shows a reflection of the sculpted paradigm of how the rest of the cultures and worst of all, the Afrikaner culture itself, sees the Afrikaner in the twenty first century? To top the steaming pile of criticism, 7de Laan must be the most popular show on TV after Generations. If I have to view one more pathetic "boerewors kompetisie" plot, I will eat myself. May Paul Kruger himself come fetch me if ever I have ever experienced a better example of "the thick of thin things".
