Engaging the media on the media appeals tribunal matter
As mentioned, I do not have much media knowledge, but in as far as I understand matters right now, the print media is self regulating, only answerable to the [Press] Ombudsman. While the Press Council is in existence, it does not hold much power or authority when it comes to media regulation.
I am all for media freedom and if the ANC-led government wants to [curtail] this freedom, I will fight to my last breath for its survival, but I need the people with the knowhow and inside info in the media to tell me why it is so important for the media, particularly print media, to be self-regulating. IF they already follow good ethical conduct and are not pushing an agenda that is "witch-hunting"-style journalism, which cooks up "facts".
[Here's a link] to an article written by one of the ANC members on the matter. I beg that you read it and constructively respond to it (to me) with facts, and realistic arguments. I beg that you apply logic in your response, and show me YOUR side of the story.
Regards
Muzi Hlanzi
