Highlighting the world's finest mountain filmmakers
The Banff Mountain Film World Tour, one of the world's premiere events on mountain climbing, expeditions, extreme sports and remote cultures, comes to Cape Town and Johannesburg this weekend, 7 – 13 September 2007. Presented by outdoor store Cape Union Mart, the films will be screened at Ster-Kinekor Classic cinemas in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The Banff Mountain Film World Tour is brought to communities throughout 30 countries and highlights the work and talents of the world's finest mountain filmmakers. Celebrating its 32nd year in existence, the organisers select only 25 entries from hundreds of hopeful filmmakers each year to make available to international festival producers.
The South African leg of the world tour is made up of 10 short films ranging from mountain biking and skiing to bouldering and B.A.S.E jumping. All 10 films are screened in one showing, starting at 8.15pm with a total duration of one hour and 52 minutes per show.
Venues are Cavendish Square and Tygervalley Centre in Cape Town, Sandton in Johannesburg and Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria.
