There's room for colour

Decorex Cape opens its doors on Friday, 29 April 2005 with 287 exhibitors portraying the theme 'Room for Colour and Pattern' and an estimated 35 000 visitors expected to attend the show.

Melanie Froneman, director of Decorex Cape, says: "We support the forging of a South African design identity and believe that this year's exhibition provides a much-needed platform for the design and décor trade. It acts as a growth engine for our exhibitors, as well as the industry in general."

Decorex Cape has received the EXSA award as Best Consumer Exhibition in its category two years running and a host of new initiatives have been incorporated in this year's show, including a fresh exhibitor mix and newly landscaped style pavilions, such as Pure Design and Fine Finishes.

New projects put the spotlight on young design students, show men the way to new-look bachelor pads and celebrate the impact of high-fashion on the home front.

Talk Show, a multi-disciplinary discussion forum, featuring leading architects, trend forecasters, concept developers, an environment designer, décor stylists and magazine editors, will also be hosted at Decorex Cape.

The Sanlam 'Young South Africa Thinking Ahead' student design competition will be held for the first time and challenges young design students to imagine the future and create furniture for the home of tomorrow.
