Editorial changes at Business Day

NEWSWATCH: Business Day editor Peter Bruce has announced, both today (Monday, 13 September 2010) and last Monday, various senior staff changes happening at the daily newspaper. Chief among them is that executive editor Sharon Chetty is moving to Fin24 and that her position will be filled by Patrick Bulger, currently the night editor, who in turn will be replaced by Michael Biberauer, former chief sub editor and presently production editor.

Political editor Karima Brown and political correspondents Wilson Johwa and Lufuno Mutele are moving to The New Age; as reported previously, Brown will be deputy editor there. She will be replaced at Business Day by Sam Mkokeli. Mkokeli, whom Bruce hired away from the Herald in Port Elizabeth, was recently news editor at Business Day until he went back to the Herald to be deputy editor there for a few months.

After 16 years, chief leader writer Hilary Joffe will be joining Eskom as its spokesperson.

Finally, unless a corporate sponsor steps in to pay Patrick and Alex Latimer more, the two brothers -who have been responsible for the Western Nostril cartoon for almost three years - will be calling it a day at the end of September.
