Last day for Cape Times editor

NEWSWATCH: It was Tyrone August's last day as editor of Independent Newspapers' Cape Times, yesterday, Thursday, 29 January 2009. It is not known whether he will be replaced. Meanwhile, President Kgalema Motlanthe has returned unsigned the Films and Publications Amendment Bill to Parliament, according to media reports.

Veteran South African journalist Chris Whitfield now assumes full control of all four titles in the Independent Cape Town stable, according to IOL. Whitfield, currently editor of the Cape Argus, will become editor-in-chief of the Cape Times, Cape Argus, Weekend Argus and Daily Voice.
