Cash Converters extends into Africa

Cash Converters Southern Africa has secured the rights from its master franchisor in Australia to expand the Cash Converters brand into sub-Saharan Africa.

The International development of the Cash Converters Group began in 1991 when Australia sold the first master license to the United Kingdom. Since then, the franchise chain has extended into 20 countries, including South Africa.

Richard Mukheibir, managing director of Cash Converters Southern Africa says: "We have been approached by people wanting to open Cash Converters stores in Nigeria, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana in recent months. As Cash Converters is a perfect way for one to upgrade one's lifestyle in a cost effective manner, we feel that Cash Converters is well suited to other African countries."

Cash Converters is the world's largest franchised retailer of quality pre-owned household goods and is listed on both the London and Sydney Stock Exchanges. At present, over 440 stores are operating in 20 countries around the world. There are 60 stores operating throughout Southern Africa.

In addition to second-hand goods, Cash Converters will source good quality new stock in the form of 'end of runs', which will be well priced and provide excellent value for money.

"We are excited about the prospect of growing our brand into Sub-Saharan Africa and taking the professional approach we have with regard to second-hand trading, to new communities. With over 40 untapped countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, the future looks promising."
