Winecorp walks away with 25 medals

Winecorp has claimed the trophy for the Best Merlot at the International Wine & Spirit competition for its Longridge Merlot 2003, in addition to another three Gold Medals.

The trophy was one of only three awarded to South African wines. Six additional Best in Class awards were divided between Longridge and Spier Private Collection, with Gold Medal wins for Longridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2002, in addition to its selection as Best in Class; Spier Vintage Selection Shiraz-Mouvédre-Viognier 2003, due for release in August and Spier Private Collection Pinotage 2003.

The International Wine & Spirit Competition attracts the world's most qualified judges and has a two-stage judging process that includes blind tasting and chemical analysis, with marks awarded on an Olympic-style basis.

The 2005 competition attracted more than 5 000 entries from over fifty countries and Winecorp claimed a total of 25 medals, including 11 Silver Medals and five Bronze.
