Producers and manufacturers of calcium supplements, dairy products and other items believed to help combat osteoporosis, are to be invited to display the National Osteoporosis Foundation of South Africa Certification Mark on all packaging after tests and scientific trials by the foundation.
NOFSA plans the newly patented licensing programme as part of an education campaign that will act as a constant reminder to consumers that this disease is preventable with the consumption of certain vitamins and minerals.
Pharmaceutical companies Novartis and Pharma Natura have confirmed their intention to participate.
