All roads will lead to Golden Kaan - it's as clear as black and white

Golden Kaan, which turns wine tasting and purchasing into a unique experience, has opened in Robertson, one of South Africa's premier wine-producing regions and known for its Wacky Wine Weekends and a variety of equally unusual events designed to raise the profile of the region.

Robertson, about two hours north of Cape Town, is the centre of a region that produces some notable wines. Now they have the House of Golden Kaan, the culmination of five years of development and growth of the brand - a joint venture between KWV and Racke of Germany.

The house - actually the original home of the Robertson stationmaster, will serve as a visitors' centre, wine house, exclusive tourist destination and the place to enjoy wine tastings in style.

If you like, you can even purchase works of art - apart from those that come in the bottle, of course - in a setting that favours a black and white colour scheme that harks back to Victorian times.

“The opening of the House of Golden Kaan is an important step in the brand's future,” says Marian Kopp, the brand's MD, adding that the venue presents a “…modern, stylish yet inviting place that will provide visitors with an exciting mix of wine and art to be enjoyed along with the South African lifestyle”.

The brand was launched in Germany and in international markets in 2003 and then in South Africa is 2005, and has enjoyed meteoric growth ever since, particularly in Germany and the USA, where it has been the category opener for SA wines.

To date 1.4 million cases of the brand's wines have been sold in more than 30 markets. The portfolio consists of three distinct tiers: Golden Kaan, Golden Kaan Winemaker's Edition and the brand's Private Collection.

Enjoy a tasting, enjoy the art - pleasure your palate and your home.
