BBM calling for South African designers to enter the BBM Stickathon
BBM, one of the most prolific messaging apps in the world, has launched an exciting new competition in South Africa: The BBM Stickathon. While aspiring to create a more exciting BBM messaging experience using unique South African designed chat icons known as stickers, or 'stickas', the competition represents a greater goal - to engage with and empower young designers. Competition entrants stand a chance of walking away with design equipment including an Apple iMac, a MacBook Pro and Wacom drawing tablets, giving the winning designers a boost towards getting their own design studios up and running.
The competition had an exceptional launch in Indonesia with scores of designers creating and submitting stickas that reflected Indonesian popular culture, resonating with the high number of BBM app users. BBM is hoping to create a similarly localised range for SA users. "BBM is an increasingly popular social messaging application for South Africans, and we are hoping to see huge enthusiasm for the first BBM Stickathon now live in South Africa. Our BBM Stickathon contest looks to open doors for talented designers to participate and make their own unique stickas come to life in BBM," says BBM Vice President Matthew Talbot.
The competition is open to all designers, from doodlers to the very experienced. To enter, designers must visit www.bbmstickathon.co.za and submit three original stickas. Valid entries will be featured on the website where the public will be able to vote for their favourite sticka set for the chance of winning BlackBerry phones. The winning sticka sets will be available in the BBM Shop for users to download and transform their chatsperience. Closing date for submissions is 16 December 2015.
BBM is available as a free download for Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows phones. Download BBM here to be a part of the experience.
