e-tv screens three Varty documentaries
e-tv will be screening international wildlife filmmaker John Varty's latest production The Tracker this Sunday at 4pm. The Tracker portrays the life, knowledge and experience of Elmon Mhlongo, the renowned Londolozi tracker and cameraman and taps into the ancient wisdom and experience of the indigenous Shangaan people.
Mhlongo grew up as a herd boy looking after his father's cattle, their only livelihood. Through his relationship with Varty, he was exposed to enormous opportunities - he travelled to the Amazon to track and film jaguar, to the vast plains of East Africa to witness the migration, he lived with Shingilana (the lioness) in the wilds of Zambia and got to star alongside a Hollywood actress in a feature film.
On 23 October at 2pm The Silent Hunter will be screened. This documentary took Varty five years to make and is the story of how he and Mhlongo developed a unique association with a family of wild leopards.
Then on 30 October at 4pm e-tv brings you The Crossover, which explores the Shangaan culture and traditions.
