MTV base World Chart Express launches this week
The countdown has begun to the much-anticipated television premiere of MTV base World Chart Express this week. The first episode of South Africa's newest weekly music show will introduce the three MTV base World Chart Express VJ finalists who were selected out of thousands of hopefuls at auditions in Cape Town, Durban and Jo'burg last month.
The show, sponsored by Fanta, premieres this Wednesday 28 September at 6.30pm on SABC 1.
TV audiences will get their first look at finalists Ash-Leigh La Foy, Sfiso Magagula and Sizwe Dhlomo going through their audition paces alongside other highlights and lowlights of the three auditions.
The first show of MTV base World Chart Express will also feature excerpts of performances from Skwatta Kamp, Zola and Brasse van die Kaap, all shot at the three audition stops.
The three VJ finalists will again feature in a special live broadcast of the second episode of MTV base World Chart Express on 5 October where they will square off against each other for the title.
Viewers will also have the opportunity to vote via SMS for their favourite VJ as they show-off their skills live on TV: public voting lines will open during the first show on Wednesday and viewers will have a full week to cast their SMS vote for their preferred VJ finalist.
The winner will become MTV base's first ever South African VJ and win a contract to host the MTV base World Chart Express show.
